AGAINST THE SALE OF OVER-THE-COUNTER HORMONE REPLACEMENT THERAPY (HRT) AND THE CONTRACEPTIVE PILL WITHOUT PRESCRIPTION.This Petition is set up so we can achieve thousands of signatures to protect women against the side effects of HRT and the contraceptive Pill, which the drugs companies are pushing to be available over the counter without a prescription.

HRT and the Contraceptive Pill will be available subject to the Pharmaceutical industry changing their own licences.  Of course they are going to do this and Governments will allow this to happen due to declining sales of especially HRT. At the moment the The Medicines and Healthcare Products Regulatory Agency (MHRA) in the UK are looking at changing the rules.Women worldwide are being maimed and dying from HRT.  Although some of the truth has been medically documented, there is still ALOT OF EVIDENCE of serious side effects that are hidden from the public.

The following symptoms were reported by the 11,000 women who contacted me:
- A huge number of women reported being treated with electric shocks for severe depression and some were committed to psychiatric institutions. 
- Epilepsy caused by high levels of oestrogens getting into the brain
- Memory loss or Alzheimer’s (but women got their memory back after stopping HRT). 
- Shaking in the body, especially the legs, diagnosed as Parkinson’s.  
- Diabetes is common among the women as the oestrogens affect the blood sugar levels.
- High or low blood pressure. 
- High cholesterol and liver problems.
- Muscles going into spasm.  Some unable to walk with many women becoming wheelchair bound. 
- Terrible pain in the hips experienced by nearly all the women.
- Dry eyes, weeping eyes and runny nose. 
- Thinning skin.  Itchiness of the body like ants crawling under the skin. 
- Tiredness which doctors wrongly diagnose as M.E. 
- HRT has been documented by the Menopausal Helpline as causing excessive bleeding.
- Women reporting flu-like symptoms and in some women the white blood cell counts where high.
- HRT and the pill deplete the body of the B Vitamins and I have a letter from the former Medicines Control Agency saying so.  Lack of Vitamin B causes depression, memory loss, affects the nerves, causes the hair to fall out and weaken the nails.

So many women have written or called to ask whether there are 2 menopauses because problems arise when they stop taking HRT - even after taking for just a few weeks - some of them had terrible flushes and depression.  The oestrogens in HRT and the Pill affect the delicate balance of the women’s endocrine system.

I hope that compensation will be paid for the side effects of HRT and I ask all men to also sign this Petition to protect the women in their lives as well as their daughters and grand-daughters.

In 1995, I, Maggie Tuttle, set up the first HRT Menopausal Helpline in the world to warn of the dangers of HRT and the Contraceptive Pill.  To date my database of the women (and men) who contacted me, is in excess of 11,000.

In September 1998, I organised the first conference in the world on the side effects of HRT held in Brighton, UK.  The conference attracted worldwide media coverage and doctors from India, Africa, USA and Sweden as well as many other countries came to speak.

It was such a success that the medical establishment were forced to listen to what we were saying.  I spoke out saying that HRT is causing cancer, strokes, blood clots and yet it still took longer to bring out the truth.  How many women have died in that time?   I ask you to question and research yourself and ask why since the 1960s is cancer so rife in women?  In 1998 the FDA stated publicly that all oestrogens be labelled as carcinogenic.  Both HRT and the Contraceptive Pill are synthetic oestrogens.
